Many, many years ago a watchmaker and his wife lived in a little house in the French town of Alencon. His name was Louis Martin, his wife was called Zelie and she was a lacemaker. They lived with their four daughters, Marie, Pauline, Leonie and Celine. On 2nd January 1873, on a cold winter's night, the soft cry of a new-born baby girl was heard.
